Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026 · Draft pending final review
The Right Goodbye helps families understand funeral and cremation pricing and their rights. Because of when people come to us, we hold ourselves to a higher standard of privacy than an ordinary comparison site. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — in plain language.
A note on sensitivity
Using The Right Goodbye usually means someone you love has died or is dying. We treat everything you enter accordingly: we do not sell your information, we do not share your details with funeral homes, and we will never contact you with sales calls. You can use every part of the price review without giving us your name, email, or phone number.
Information we collect
Information you enter. The price review asks for the type of arrangement, your general area, and the quote you were given. If you choose to receive your review by email, we collect the email address you provide — and nothing else about you.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect standard device and usage information (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) through cookies and similar technologies, including basic analytics.
How we use information
We use what you enter to prepare your price comparison; to send you the review, your rights, and our two-week checklist if you asked for them; and to improve the site. If you share a quote or price list with us to help other families, we use it only in aggregated, anonymized form — as a price point in an area, never connected to you or your family.
Affiliate links and third parties
Some links on our caskets and urns page are affiliate links: if you make a purchase, the retailer's affiliate network sets a cookie so the retailer can credit The Right Goodbye with the referral, and we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate networks receive standard click information; they do not receive anything you entered into the price review. When you visit a retailer or any other site we link to, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers who help us run the site (hosting, analytics, email delivery), with affiliate networks as described above, and where required by law. We do not sell personal information. To the extent affiliate cookies constitute "sharing" under certain state privacy laws, you can opt out as described below.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale"/"sharing" of personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing removes you from everything.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above and protect it with reasonable technical and organizational measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
The Right Goodbye is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes and contact
If we update this policy, we'll post the revised version here with a new date. Questions or requests: contact us at the email address in the site footer.
